Integrated Children's Service Plan

Getting it right for every child

Getting It Right for Every Child LogoGetting it right for every child is the national programme underpinning all services to children and young people. Getting it right for every child is an approach aimed at securing the wellbeing of all Scotland’s children and improving outcomes for the most disadvantaged.

It promotes a shared approach that:

  • builds solutions with, and around, children and families
  • allows children to get the help they need when they need it
  • supports a positive shift in culture, systems and practice
  • involves working together to make things better

Getting it right for every child is the foundation for work with all children and young people, including adult services where parents are involved. It builds on health and education services and is embedded in the developing early years and youth frameworks.

For more information and updates go to the getting it right for every child section on the Scottish Government's web site.

Working together to make things better

Our shared vision for all Aberdeenshire children and young people is:

“Every child in Aberdeenshire will be valued and helped to realise their potential”

To make this vision a reality, people in all services need to work together.

Joint Management Group

Getting It Right ConferenceThe Joint Management Group is a multi-agency partnership made up of senior managers from our Education Learning and Leisure service, our Social Work service, NHS Grampian, Grampian Police, the voluntary sector and including the Children's Reporter.

The group is charged with making sure there is better joint working across children’s services and overseeing the improvements needed to deliver the outcomes relevant to children and young people in the Single Outcome Agreement. The Joint Management Group monitors progress on implementing the actions contained in the Integrated Children's Services plan and reports to Service Committees

Its role is to:

  • lead the implementation of Getting it right for every child in Aberdeenshire
  • strengthen partnership working to make sure everyone involved are working to a common purpose
  • promote the changes in culture, systems and practice needed within and across agencies

We recognise the rights of all children and young people and aim to place them at the centre of everything we do.
