Strategic Priorities 2007 to 2011

On 9th June 2011, the Elected Members of the Policy & Resources Committee agreed to extend the Strategic Priorities to 2012 in order to continue to align with the local elections taking place in May 2012.

As a Council we are constantly striving to make Aberdeenshire the best area and the best Council in Scotland. The Strategic Priorities 2007-2011 outline how we are working towards this goal and sets out the key actions we will take to achieve our priorities.

The Aberdeenshire Community Plan provides the overarching framework for the Council’s strategic planning, and the strategic priorities have been developed around the five Community Planning themes of Community Well Being, Jobs and the Economy, Lifelong Learning, Sustainable Environment, and Developing our Partnerships, with an additional Council theme of Corporate Improvement. The strategic priorities are also clearly linked to the Council’s vision for Aberdeenshire.

The Strategic Priorities set a clear direction for the Council for the next four years, guiding policy development, ensuring that resources are allocated appropriately and effectively, and promoting continuous improvement.

The publication of this document will help people hold the Council to account. There are key actions linked to each strategic priority. Progress towards achieving these priorities will be reviewed and reported regularly. The Council will also keep the strategic priorities under review to ensure that they remain relevant.

We are confident that our focus on the achievement of our strategic priorities over the next four years will ensure that the people who live in the many communities in Aberdeenshire continue to enjoy the best quality of life.
