The Archaeology Service has the job of locating, evaluating, safeguarding, and explaining all known archaeological sites within this area.

Scottish Archaeological Internet Reports also provide online details for some of the latest excavations.
Excavations
You may wish to volunteer for an archaeological excavation. There are numerous such digs that you can join across the country during the course of a year, details of which can be found at the Council for Scottish Archaeology Briefing Page.
