What we're already doing to shape up!

Aberdeenshire Council is a well-managed and efficient organisation. By improving the way we are managed and the way we perform still further we can ensure we continue to develop as a modern, effective organisation.

We made £10m worth of savings last year by finding more efficient ways of working such as reviewing the senior management structure (which saved over £500,000 for the council) and reviewing the way we purchase materials, goods and services (savings of £2.8million).

We will continue to:

• Ensure efficiency is an integral part of all services

• Manage the buying of goods and services effectively and efficiently

• Strengthen the council’s performance management to focus on the difference we actually make to people’s lives

• Make it easier for customers to contact and interact with the council and use the information we gather to improve and prioritise services

• Ensure employees can contribute to shaping the future direction of the council and that their work is recognised as key in achieving the delivery of excellent services

• Make better use of our buildings in order to inform future investment decisions

• Make good financial decisions and campaign for a review of the way Scottish Government calculates how much of a grant settlement the council gets.
