Conservation Areas Designation & Review - Gourdon

Proposed Gourdon Conservation Area

Gourdon harbourAberdeenshire Council is currently considering the designation of a Conservation Area for the harbour and surrounding area which make up the historic core of the costal village of Gourdon, located within the Kincardine and Mearns Area. As the first step in the process a Draft Appraisal has been prepared to identify the area’s special features and to delineate the boundaries. The Appraisal will also be a vital tool to assist the active management of the area by providing the context for the assessment of development proposals and by identifying opportunities and priorities for enhancement.

Local residents, property owners and businesses have a major role to play in protecting and enhancing the character and appearance of a conservation area. The Council are seeking their views and those of other groups or individuals in the community by means of a questionnaire.
