Alford - Haughton Caravan Park

Scottish Tourist Board 4 StarMontgarrie Road
Alford AB33 8NA
Location Map

Following the Council decision to transfer the operation of caravan parks, we have completed our investigations into the possibilities of community group involvement for the management and operation of this park. Unfortunately we have been unsuccessful in securing any community group interest. As a result we advertised the park for lease to private individuals/commercial organisations and are now awaiting the results.

Our aim is to have the park open for the 2012 season under new management arrangements. Updates will be published on this webpage.

The caravan park has now closed for the Winter Season.

General Information

Alford Caravan ParkAlford is a peaceful village with remarkable character just 45 minutes from Aberdeen. On the castle trail nearby Craigievar Castle looks almost Disneyesque and is practically unaltered since being built by the Forbes family in the early 17th century. In contrast, 14th century Kildrummy Castle - dismantled after the 1715 Jacobite rebellion - has been extensively restored. It has a splendid Alpine garden laid out by Japanese designers in 1904.
The village amenities include indoor swimming pool and dry ski slope. Attractions within the village include; the Transport Museum displaying various types of transport through the ages, a large collection of cars, motorcycles, commercial vehicles, horse drawn and steam vehicles. The Heritage Centre houses an intriguing exhibition of rural bygones which give an insight into the life of the ordinary working people of Donside and North East Scotland. During the summer the Alford Village Railway narrow gauge train runs from the Victorian station in the village through the golf course to the tree lined avenue of Haughton Country Park.

This beautiful 40-hectare woodland park on the banks of the River Don recognised as a premier salmon and brown trout river, incorporates the caravan park where fishing permits can be purchased from reception.

Within the park are several childrens play areas, picnic tables, walks and riverside trim track.
