There are a number of counselling services available for people experiencing mental health difficulties:

Mental Health Aberdeen (MHA) provide the following:

  • Banff and Buchan Voluntary Counselling Service - counselling service for people with mental health problems
  • Comraich - drop-in and local resource for people experiencing mental health problems
  • Companions Befriending Scheme (Banff, Ellon, Peterhead) - offering social contact to people experiencing mental health problems
  • Haven - drop-in and local resource for people experiencing mental health problems
  • Nexus - day centre for people with mental health problems
  • The Arches - drop-in resource for people experiencing mental health problems

 

Orange phoneBreathing Space - a free and confidential phoneline service for any individual, who is experiencing low mood or depression, or who is unusually worried and in need of someone to talk to.

Mental health user reference group

The mental health user reference group is a group of users and carers, set up to help develop and monitor the effectiveness of mental health provision in Aberdeenshire. Members of the group participate in the planning process.

Meetings are held on alternate months on Mondays between 12.00 midday - 2.00pm at Inverurie Day Centre, Port Road, Inverurie.

The group is open to mental health service users, carers and anybody with mental health problems with an interest in mental health issues.

People First (Scotland)

People First (Scotland) is an independent self advocacy organisation for people with learning difficulties.
