Funding Criteria

Could you provide quality childcare in Aberdeenshire?
Aberdeenshire Council in association with Aberdeenshire Childcare Partnership has funding to help:

• Create new childcare provision
• Expand existing childcare provision

Current priorities include Childcare Projects which:

• Operate all year round (at least 50 weeks)
• Develop existing childcare or similar facilities
• Operate in areas of high deprivation
• Meet the needs of working parents in their locality or near the work place
• Offer opportunities for employers and employees to develop their own sustainable childcare
• Promote social inclusion and actively encourage participation by children with special needs, or from lone parent low income or ethnic minority families
• Operate in areas where there is a definite need for childcare

What Funded Developments Must Demonstrate

All funded developments will ultimately have to demonstrate that they:

• Offer a flexible service to parents who work of study during evening, weekends or work shifts
• Develop childcare in combination with education
• Operate within one of the quality assurance frameworks
• Be registered with the Care Commission under the Regulation of Care (Scotland) Act 2001
• Are cost effective and viable long term propositions
• Make information about their service available and ideally place their details on the Aberdeenshire Childcare Information Service database
• Provide a safe outdoor play area
• Make their provision suitable for use by children with special needs
• Produce an annual report to demonstrate appropriate use of funding
• Take advantage of relevant training opportunities offered by the Childcare

What We Will Fund

Funding can be sought for start up or extension costs and used for equipment and staffing and must be used in the first year of operation

A unit cost of £1000 per full time equivalent place created will be considered

Funding for other parts of the project may be possible if it is a voluntary of public body that are making the provision available.
