Young Parents
Are you a young parent or a teenage mum 2B. Are you at a loose end some of the time? Have you lost contact with classmates and feel that the local baby group only caters for ‘older mums’. Why not check out your local community centre to see if there is a young parents group that you can go along to.
This is your chance to meet others in a similar situation and to make new friends, share ideas and have some time for yourself. Staffed by a friendly group worker you will be encouraged to take part in a range of activities - arts & crafts, cooking, trips out and about, discussions and chat about a whole range of things that may affect you and your child.
There is usually a crèche for the kids, although some of the programme activities may be done together. There is generally no charge for the group as it is supported through Surestart.
Check out with your local Surestart Community Learning Worker to see if there is a Teenage/Young Parents group within your area.
