Surestart (work with parents)

In the seventeen Community Schools Networks across Aberdeenshire, Surestart Community Learning Workers work directly with families of young children. Surestart’s aim is that every child has the best possible start in life, by improving access to services and bridging gaps in provision. Surestart offers information, support and advice to young families, with objectives of:-

  • Improving children’s emotional, social development
  • Improving children’s health
  • Improving children’s ability to learn
  • Strengthening families and communities

Most networks have an Early Years Forum, which directs local partnership development, sometimes allocating extra funding where required.

Surestart community learning workers respond to the different needs of Aberdeenshire young families through programmes of group work, courses, workshops and offering support and information.
