Rhymetimes and Storytelling

Rhymetime sessions are a regular part of community activity in many areas of Aberdeenshire.   Sessions take place in community centres and libraries with local staff and offer a mix of rhyme, story and song for parents, carers and children under five.

Rhymetimes offer a chance for parents to meet other families in relaxed supportive settings, while taking part in an enjoyable activity with their child.   Benefits of introducing young children to rhyme, rhythm and song at a very early stage can be seen through their child’s learning, language, listening and imagination’s development.

Parents enjoy the sessions too!   New parents may feel self conscious about singing to their child, that they don’t know where to start or that they won’t know anyone.   Coming to Rhymetime allows parents to meet others who may be feeling just the same, and to allow everyone a chance to learn together and have fun.
