Detached Youth Work

When the young people don’t come to us, we go to them!

In many towns and villages of rural Aberdeenshire, youth workers can be seen talking to young people in areas where they congregate.

Whether it be the local park, youth shelter or bus stop, youth workers chat to young folk to identify their needs, supporting them to access advice, support and information on any issue that may affect them.
From time to time this method of working is used to gather the views of young people on various topics.

By consulting the young people and enabling them to have a voice, they can become actively involved in finding solutions to local issues in partnership with other members of their community.
