Fraserburgh – Bin It N Win It – Good Practice Example

As part of a civic pride initiative to tackle the problem of litter in Fraserburgh, kids in “the Broch” have been invited to “Bin It N Win It”.

'Bin It 'n' Win It' is an anti litter initiative successfully piloted by Inverurie Business Association approximately 3 years ago.  This example of innovative practice was disseminated to the Fraserburgh Business Association via the Aberdeenshire Towns Together Forum.  An integrated partnership approach comprising Fraserburgh Business Association, Grampian Police, Fraserburgh Academy and the Community Warden team has been used to develop the anti litter campaign.

Randomly chosen children who are seen by the Community Wardens and the local Community Beat Officer discarding their litter in the appropriate manner will be rewarded by winning a voucher to spend in local shops.  In order to raise the profile of the project pupils of Fraserburgh Academy have designed posters, which were distributed throughout the town centre to coincide with the launch of the project in August 2005.
