Local Government Elections 2012 - New Reports Available

Voting in an election is your chance to help decide who makes decisions that affect you every day.
Under the direction of the Returning Officer, Council staff are responsible for running all elections, which includes the election of councillors to Aberdeenshire Council as well as MSP's, MP's and MEP's for the area. For information on specific election topics such as previous election results, how and where to vote, and voting systems, please follow the links on the left of this page.
Electoral Participation
Aberdeenshire Council once again ran a highly successful schools election project in 2011. Footage of the project can be found on the Schools Election 2011 webpages, as well as on the HMIE website (25.9MB). Details of the Schools Election 2010 can also be found here.
Sixth Review of UK Parliamentary Constituencies
The Boundary Commission is currently conducting a review of UK Parliamentary Constituencies and has now published all comments received in response to its initial proposals.
A second consultative phase ran from 1 March to 2 April, 2012. Revised proposals are currently being developed and will be circulated for further consultation in autumn 2012.

Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places
Each council is required by law to carry out a review every four years to ensure that it provides facilities for voting and that polling places are accessible to all electors, including voters with a disability.
