About Us
Our Mission Statement:
Aberdeenshire Educational Psychology Service is committed to the practical application of psychological theory and principles in order to help children and young people develop their full learning, social and emotional potential
We do this by
- Developing effective partnerships with schools and other agencies through a consultation framework
- Preventative interventions based on applied psychological research
- Supporting inclusion and raising educational attainment
HMIe Inspection
During summer 2007 the service was inspected by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Education. Aberdeenshire EPS successfully met the challenge and demonstrated high levels of positive impact on children and families and effective contributions to the wider Education Authority. Our consultation model of service delivery and our leadership have been particularly highlighted as some of the service's major strengths. The HMIe report is now published and available.

Aberdeenshire has carried out an Early Years Review and using this alongside our Education Learning and Leisure Service Plan we have developed a clear strategy for the Early Years which includes training, research, sustainability and self-evaluation. Post-School Psychological Service (PSPS)
The evidence-base associated with PSPS indicates greater impact when supporting establishments rather than intervening at the level of the individual. Aberdeenshire Educational Psychology will therefore work closely with partners in developing effective systemic/organisational interventions and initiatives to enable young people to realise their potential in post-school settings.
Aberdeenshire Educational Psychology Serviceacknowledges the importance of effective partnership working, both with and relating to vulnerable children and young people.
