Go Online at Libraries
go@l (go online at libraries) is a library service which offers free public access to computer facilities including internet and email as part of the People's Network.

go@l is available in all public libraries throughout Aberdeenshire and in our Local Studies Department in Oldmeldrum, from a minimum of 2 computers in our smaller libraries to 18 in the largest.

Services provided by go@l include:

  • Broadband access to the internet
  • Email
  • Microsoft Office software – Word, Excel, Access and Powerpoint plus Paint Shop Pro and Frontpage
  • Scanning facilities
  • Colour and black and white printing
  • DVD reader and CD Read/Writer
  • Large keyboards and mice for those who require them
  • Secure personal 20Mb storage
  • Video conferencing in Fraserburgh and Stonehaven libraries
  • Booking facility – book a computer in advance in 1 hour blocks

Are there charges to use go@l?

  • Access to the computer and the internet is free
  • A small charge is made for printing
  • Computer media such as floppy discs are available for purchase
  • Video conferencing incurs a charge

How can I use go@l?

  • Send an email to family and friends
  • Research family history on the internet
  • Design your own CV
  • Access reference online databases including newspapers, encyclopaedias, business information and other reference works
  • Surf the web
  • And much more

Registering to use go@l

Aberdeenshire Residents

  • You need to be a member of any Aberdeenshire library. If you aren't already a member you can join in any library. Please bring proof of identity with you such as a utilities bill, driving licence or other item that gives your name and address
  • You need to sign agreement to our Acceptable Use Policy
  • On registration you will be able to access the computers using your borrower number and PIN number

Under 16s

  • Parents or guardians need to sign a consent form before they are able to use the computers

Visitors to Aberdeenshire

  • Visitors to the libraries are welcome to use the computers on a temporary basis
  • Visitors will need to sign agreement to our Acceptable Use Policy
