Life can be a challenge, so Healthy Reading offers easy access to a range of self help books designed to help you cope with every day issues such as stress, anxiety and depression that can affect the way we feel about ourselves and others. Healthy Reading is for anyone, including those interested in mental and emotional well being, family members and friends.
Healthy Reading collections are placed in a designated areas in Huntly, Peterhead and Westhill libraries. Smaller collections are held at Ellon, Inverurie and Inverbervie Libraries. You can access the books by simply joining the library and borrowing the books. Just look for the Healthy Reading logo. Find out which books are in the collection from the Booklist. All books can be reserved on the library catalogue
If you or someone close to you is having difficulty coping with life and is keen to increase their well being then this scheme is for you. The books are based on a self-help approach so the aim is to provide you with information and strategies to achieve and maintain emotional and psychological well being. Should you find that this approach has not improved your situation we recommend you speak with a health professional (GP, health visitor, practice nurse) to discuss other services that are available to you. The service is confidential and no information about who is borrowing the books will be disclosed.
Healthy Reading was initiated by a partnership between Mental Health Aberdeen, Huntly Mental Health, NHS Grampian, Aberdeenshire Council. The project is funded through NHS Grampian Health Improvement Funds.
