North East of Scotland Biological Records Centre
What is it for?
The natural environment is important to the economy and quality of life in North East Scotland, many of its species and habitats are of national significance. NESBReC is the biological record centre for this information in North East Scotland. NESBReC covers the areas of Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City.
NESBReC collates, co-ordinates, manages and disseminates biological data for a range of organisations, groups and individuals.
NESBReC holds around 300,000 individual species records, together with information on habitats from a variety of surveys. NESBReC carried out the first survey in Scotland to use the Intergrated Habitat System methodoly and this information is now available on the NESBReC website
Through the National Biodiversity Network the LRC will also provide access to data covering the whole of the UK.
