File Downloads
Most of the files which are available to download from the site are provided in Adobe Acrobat PDF format. To view these files you will need to have the Acrobat Reader software. You can download Adobe Reader from Adobe's website.
Adobe's website also provides information on Accessibility features and how you can convert a PDF document to HTML
We recognise that not all of the website is fully accessible such as the Local Information section, Library catalogue, Planning Applications, Job Vacancies search, Committees and Meetings and some PDFs which are continually being improved for accessibility
Web based text to speech software
Browsealoud reads web pages aloud for people who find it difficult to read online. Reading large amounts of text on screen can be difficult for those with literacy and visual impairments.
To use Browsealoud you need to download and install the software, when it is running simply move the mouse over some text on a web page and it is read out, no clicking or selecting of text is required.
Accreditation
The Aberdeenshire Council Website has achieved a high level of accessibility and has been awarded the Shaw Trust ‘Accessible’ rating.
