ALPINE SKIING/SNOWBOARDING SUPERVISION (F)
This one day in-house course includes an evening session and is for competent skiers who do not possess an Alpine Ski/Snowboard Leader qualification but wish to be involved in supervising sessions of skiing/snowboarding outside the times when their group are being given more formal instruction by qualified instructors. This will also be an introduction to the Alpine Ski Leader Scheme and an opportunity for those wishing to attend an Alpine Ski Leader Course to receive some pre course training and to gauge their technical readiness for this course.
Training will be provided both on and off snow in aspects of group management and safety within lift-served ski areas at home or abroad. There will also be discussion on criteria for choosing suitable resorts and other aspects related to the organisation of skiing trips.
The minimum nationally recognised qualification for staff wishing to supervise groups in this way is the Alpine Ski/Snowboard Leader and participants will be encouraged and supported to go on to gain this nationally recognised Award, which additionally qualifies holders to coach basic skiing/boarding skills.
