ASSIST

AberdeenShire Staged Intervention Supporting Teaching

Based on Birmingham City Council's Framework for Intervention, ASSIST supports all school staff with the management of behaviour.

It is an environmental approach which encourages staff to react to the many different contexts in which they are working and to adapt these, in so far as possible, to maximise learning opportunities for pupils.

ASSIST involves solution focussed approaches in addressing behaviour issues and is founded on principles of respect, inclusion, equal opportunity and positive approaches to behaviour.

ASSIST is being rolled out to all Aberdeenshire Schools. Currently there are over 200 ASSIST Coordinators in 98 schools across Aberdeenshire.
