Kodaly Singing and Musicianship Programme
Kodaly was a Hungarian composer and music educator. He was passionately devoted to helping children of all ages to develop their singing and musical skills. His philosophy of music education led to a highly sequential system of teaching music. The system was developed by those influenced by Kodaly's vision of music education.
The Kodaly Singing and Musicianship Programme is a method of teaching that encompasses all areas of musicianship. It is delivered by a team of Kodaly Instructors in Primary Schools throughout Aberdeenshire. Each Primary School receives Kodaly tuition on a weekly basis for one term per academic year. All four Special Needs Schools receive Kodaly tuition all year round.
YMI funded Instrumental Instructors
A team of Instrumental Instructors are deployed in all 17 Community School Networks. Aberdeenshire is geographically challenging when it come to the delivery of music by peripatetic teachers and these instructors play a vital role in filling gaps in instrumental provision.
