The Development Plan
The statutory development plan for Aberdeenshire consists of the Aberdeenshire Local Plan 2006 and the Aberdeen City and Shire Structure Plan 2009. Within the Cairngorms National Park, the Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Structure Plan 2001: North East Scotland Together (NEST) remains in force.
The structure plan provides a strategic context for specific land use policies and proposals contained within the local plan. The local plan is used as the principal basis for decisions on planning applications. The structure plan sets the context for the preparation of the Aberdeenshire Local Development Plan.
The Aberdeen City and Shire Structure Plan 2009 was formally approved by Scottish Ministers on 14 August 2009 and came into force on 17 August 2009.
You can find out more about the approved structure plan on the Aberdeen City and Shire Strategic Development Planning Authority website or by calling the Strategic Development Plan Team.
The plan and associated documents are available to view at Woodhill House (Aberdeen), Area Planning Offices and all public libraries. The SEA Post-Adoption Statement is available from the address or website below.
