Monitoring Report
An early task in the preparation of the Aberdeenshire Local Development Plan was to produce a monitoring report, which identifies: changes in the principal physical, economic, social and environmental characteristics of the area; and the impact of the policies and proposals on the existing plan. This report will help to inform the new plan, justify the new plan's content and provide a baseline for later monitoring.
The report is divided into two parts:
- The first part deals with the overall performance of the current plan against core strategic land use and locational objectives that applied to that plan.
- The second part looks at the performance of particular policy areas in order to identify where significant change may be required.

Development Proposals
Landowners and developers were invited to submit proposals for development that they would wish to be considered in the Main Issues Report, with a view to taking them forward over the next 12 to 15 years through the next plan. This provided a range of options for development to include in the Main Issues Report. The Planning Team undertook an assessment of all the proposals, and this helped to come to a professional opinion about which sites are the most suitable to accommodate future growth.
