Plans and Policies
The Aberdeenshire Local Plan adopted on 30 June 2006 is part of the statutory development plan for the area.
Aberdeenshire Council has engaged with Community Councils, key stakeholders and others, in trying to identify the areas where policy change may be required.
Development PlanThe statutory development plan for Aberdeenshire consists of the Aberdeenshire Local Plan 2006 and the Aberdeen City and Shire Structure Plan 2009. Within the Cairngorms National Park, the Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Structure Plan 2001: North East Scotland Together (NEST) remains in force.
In addition to the Development Plan, Aberdeenshire Council also produces Supplementary Planning Guidance to assist applicants with aspects of planning policy.
You will be able to access information on the purpose and preparation of development briefs, as well as specific examples for sites within the Aberdeenshire Local Plan (ALP).
Capacity Studies consider potential constraints and opportunities and what potential benefits new developments could bring to a settlement.
