Do you have difficulty getting around Elgin?

  • Would you like to borrow a wheelchair or an electric scooter?
  • Do you have difficulty getting around the shops because you can't hear or see too well?
  • Would you like to have a companion to assist you whilst shopping?

What is Shopmobility?

Shopmobility is a scheme to lend, free of charge, electric and manual wheelchairs plus scooters. This helps people who have limited mobility, long or short term, or visual/hearing impairments to shop and use other facilities in Elgin town centre. An escort for people who may require assistance whilst shopping is available.

Who can use this service?

Shopmobility is open to anyone, young or old, whether they have a disability or not, who feels that getting around Elgin is difficult for them. You do not have to be registered as having a disability to use this scheme.

How do I use Shopmobility?

Phone, write or call in to the office based at 55 High Street, Moray. There you will be met by one of our many volunteers who will register you, acquaint you with the chair of your choice and organise, if necessary, an escort or pusher.

Registering means completing a simple form on your first visit to the office.

To ensure a suitable - or your favourite - chair is available it would be helpful to pre-book.

If an escort / guide / pusher is required please try to let us know in advance.

Please give us plenty of notice if you unable to take up the booking.
