We provide a range of travel support for people with disabilities and difficulty getting out and about:
Alford Car Transport Service
The Alford Car Transport Service is a charity with the aim to enable people to attend health and similar related appointments, where public or family transport is unavailable or inappropriate
British Red Cross Transport Service
This British Red Cross Transport Service offers freedom and independence for people who cannot get about easily or use ordinary transport
Independent Travel Project
Supporting People with Disabilities to use Public Transport
- Travel Training - designed to enable people with disabilities to travel safely and independently on public transport
- Travel Buddies - are Independent Travel Project workers who deliver and support individuals receiving our services
- Information - is provided on all aspects of travel and if we don't know, we know someone who does
How much does it cost?- Initial assessment and training is free and long term support can be negotiated.
What about referrals? - contact can be made directly by an individual, or through your Social Work Department or Health Professional
What is on offer? - Travel training and support is usually on a one-to-one basis. The time and place is to suit users of our service and the organisation. Both parties work together as a partnership to produce a learning programme which will broaden horizons
How can I apply as a volunteer ? - opportunities are on offer to volunteers who wish to participate in promoting the philosophy and policies of the organisation
