Public Transport Contracts
Award of Local bus service, combined Local bus/School Transport and A2B dial-a-bus service contracts
In the UK’s deregulated bus industry transport operators provide local bus services on a commercial basis where it is viable to do so. The Council’s policy on the support of local bus services is outlined in its Public Transport Policy Statement.
Aberdeenshire Council supports the operation of Local Bus services where they are not commercially viable but they are deemed socially necessary and provide good value to the Council. Such services are branded as Aberdeenshire Local.
Some of the public transport services supported by the Council are operated on a demand responsive basis, providing door-to-door transport. Such services are branded Aberdeenshire A2B dial-a-bus.
Information on tenders invited and contracts awarded for Aberdeenshire Local and A2B dial-a-bus service operators in 2010 can be viewed in the following document.
