Great Inverurie Bike Ride 2011

Sunday 17th July 2011 Kellands Park

Registration will be open from around 10.00 to collect race number and chip

Bike ride will start at 12.00 it is NOT a race and we will allow people to leave up until 2.00pm after that you cycle the route which maybe un signed and at your own risk as their may be no marshalls out on the course.

The registration area wil be dismantled at around 5.00pm

All tshirts will be handed out at the start

 

The 25th Great Inverurie Bike Ride will be organised by Aberdeenshire Council and carries on the great tradition of the event established by Sandy Lindsey.

The event is for riders of all ages and abilities and is suitable for the whole family, as well as individuals. 

Entries can and will be accepted on the day but our preference is for you to enter prior to the event so that we can guage numbers entering. Entries will be available from here soon. We have taken onboard all the comments that were received on the online survey and you will see a few of you suggestions come alive at the event. Helmet will be compulsory for the Bike Ride and should be up to ES 1078 Standard.

Course

The scenic 25-mile route remains the same as previous years beginning at Kellands Park in Inverurie, and then heads via Chapel of Garioch, Bennachie, Pitfichie and Monymusk, returning to the start via Fetternear and Burnhervie.

Entry Fee

Every participant is asked to pay a £12.00 entry fee, Active aberdeenshire Card Holders will Get a £2.00 reduction reducing their entry fee to £10.00 This covers the cost of running the event, insurance etcwhich this year again includes a chip timing system allowing the more competitive riders to time their ride accurately andwe will provide a list of times taken to go around the course. This is also a valuable safety check (we knowwho has and has not returned to base!). Your T shirt, and refreshments throughout the ride are also included in the entry fee. Every penny of what you raise in sponsorship will go to the nominated charities.

Sponsorship Forms

Sponsorship Forms are available from the individual charities you wish to raise monies for. Please follow the links to these sites.

Please note CLAN do not have a downloadable sponsor form, you will be directed to an e-mail address where you can request the relevant form.

The above named Charities will have representatives on site on the day of the Bike Ride so please bring all your sponsorship monies with you when you register.

Refreshments

Monymusk will again be welcoming the Bike Ride by offering teas, coffees and homebakes. The Street Sport mobile football unit will also be there for children to play in. Monymusk is an ideal place for non riders to meet up with riders at the halfway point and enjoy some rest and relaxation. Profits from the teas will go to Monymusk Church.

There will also be a BBQ at the finish point in Kellands Park - all profits to go to the BBQ organisers choice of charity which this year is an orphanage in Malawi.
