Alford ski centre is situated in the picturesque Howe of Alford, surrounded by the beautiful hillside of Benachie and Donside.

Alford Ski Centre

An all year round facility with a dedicated team of qualified and experienced winter sports instructors.

We offer:

  • 70 meter lubricated Dendix slope with Poma lift.
  • A dedicated 30 meter Trainer slope, with magic carpet lift
  • Flood-lit skiing
  • Lounge area and facilities

Open Practice sessions

As with most sports practice makes perfect and we offer open practice sessions all year round.

In the interest of safety, all skiers and boarders on open practice must be able to perform to our minimum standard, which is a controlled snowplough and stop for skiers and a falling leaf for boarders. Long trousers, long sleeves and gloves must be worn on the slope at all times.

Ski Instruction

If you have never tried skiing or snowboarding before it’s easy to start.   All our instructors hold professional qualifications and are trained to the highest standard, with experience on teaching all levels.   All lessons include the hire of equipment and are designed to offer safety and enjoyment whilst learning.

Group lessons

Learn with others of the same ability, a social and enjoyable experience.   Our classes usually entail 4, 1 hour lessons at the same time each week with a maximum of 8 per group, to ensure you get the most out of your session.

Private lessons

For those unable to attend group lessons on a regular weekly basis or for those who would like a more personal service we can provide private lessons.

When choosing a ski class, consideration should be taken regarding abilities and ages.   

Standard Classification Age Class
This is my first time on skis

First time beginner
An introduction to skiing. Familiarisation of equipment and safety awareness.  Control of descent and the use of ski tows.

5 - 7 years of age FTB 1
8 - 12 years of age FTB 2
12 years of age - adult FTB 3
 
I can snowplough, use the lift but I have difficulty turning and controlling my speed.

Intermediate
Develop control and good balance through linked Snowplough turns.

5 - 7 years of age INT 1
8 - 12 years of age INT 2
12 years of age - adult INT 3
 
I can snowplough turn on the nursery slopes but find It difficult as the speed increases on longer and steeper slopes.

Advanced/Intermediate
Learn to various the size of your turn and match your skis into a parallel turn.  

5 - 7 years of age ADV / INT 1
8 - 12 years of age ADV / INT 2
12 years of age - adult ADV / INT 3
 
I can match my skis at the beginning of a turn I now want to be able to do shorter faster turns. 

Advanced
Refine your parallel turns. Skiing faster and learning new techniques.   Carving, short radius turns and having fun skiing.

Great fun for all the family and an ideal activity for birthday parties and group outings!

Due to the high demand we recommend calling the ski centre to reserve tubes in advance for all public sessions.

Tubing Prices

Public 45-minute tubing sessions

Adults                           £6.70
Juniors                         £5.30
Group Bookings             £89.50

This price includes 1 hours private slope use with the supplied 25 tubes and the use of the lounge area for an hour, where you are welcome to bring your own party food. (Please note we are unable to provide cooking facilities).
