What is a Renewal of Marriage Vows Ceremony?

This ceremony is for any married couple who wish to celebrate renewing their marriage vows in a unique and personal way. Often this type of ceremony is associated with a special wedding anniversary, such as twenty-fifth but the ceremony is just as appropriate for couples at any stage of marriage.

The ceremony is purely secular, no religious content is permitted and they have no legal status. However, as part of the booking procedure you will be asked to produce your marriage certificate.

It does not matter if you do not live in the area where you want your ceremony and they can be held within any Aberdeenshire Council Registration Office or in a venue which has already been approved by the local authority to hold civil marriage ceremonies.

The Renewal of Marriage Vows Ceremony will be personalised to your own requirements but may contain readings, rededication of rings, acknowledgement of children etc.

If this type of ceremony appeals to you please contact your local Registrar or email registrars@aberdeenshire.gov.uk for further information.
