Scale of Charges

Free Parking Period

If you intend to park for a short period of time, within the 'free' period you still need to obtain a ticket from the machine.
The length of the free period varies across Aberdeenshire, see below for time periods for each town.  

At all towns there is no return, for an additional free period within 2 hours

  • Banchory - 45 minutes
  • Banff - 1 hour
  • Ellon - 30 minutes
  • Fraserburgh - 1 hour
  • Huntly - no free period, all parking must be paid for
  • Inverurie - 30 minutes
  • Oldmeldrum - 2 hours
  • Peterhead - 1 hour
  • Stonehaven - 30 minutes
  • Turriff - 2 hours

Paid Parking Periods

  • 0– 2 hours - £1.20
  • 2 – 3 hours - £2.00
  • 3 – 10 hours - £5.00

The above charges do not apply to Country Parks.   

How to use Payment Meters

Whether you are parking for a free period or if you intend to park your vehicle beyond the free period, you will always need to input your vehicle registration into the Payment Meter before obtaining a ticket.

Free parking ticket

  1. Enter your registration details on the keypad on the machine.
  2. Press green button for ticket.
  3. Display ticket on vehicle.

Paying with coins

  1. Enter your registration details on the keypad on the machine.
  2. Insert the correct money for the tariff you require.
  3. Press green button for ticket.
  4. Display ticket on vehicle.

Paying by card

  1. Enter your registration details on the keypad on the machine.
  2. Insert your payment card into the chip and pin terminal
  3. Press the yellow button until the display shows your chosen tariff.
  4. Follow on screen instructions for PIN
  5. Press green button for ticket.
  6. Display Ticket on Vehicle. 

Exemption for Disabled Drivers

A disabled person's vehicle, displaying a valid Blue Badge, will be exempt from payment of any parking charge.
