Primary and Special School Meals
Catering TODAY For A Healthy Future
Colourful and informative menus are available to all Aberdeenshire school pupils and parents. The menus are the culmination of work that involves ongoing recipe and menu planning.
The menus and current approach to school meal provision were introduced to all Primary and Special Schools in August 2005. Menus are planned centrally and nutritionally analysed on a weekly basis taking account of key nutrients that include calcium, iron and vitamins.
Aberdeenshire school menus are devised to meet Scottish Government nutritional legislation and acheive lower fat, lower saturated fat, lower sugar and lower salt content.
A School Meal menu offers:
- 2 hot main course choices.
- ‘The Sandwich Tray’ providing a selection of items making it an excellent alternative to a home Pack lunch.

- Baked Potato with a choice of filling is available daily as a main course meal.
Salad, fresh fruit and pudding daily. - Soup is available at least once a week.
- A selection of bread and milk or fruit juice are included with a school lunch meal.
Menus for Winter 2009 - Our 10th Edition!
The menus shown below are the 10th edition since standardised menus were introduced during the HUNGRY FOR SUCCESS initiative. This Winter menu is also the first time that pupils in all Aberdeenshire Primary & Special schools will have the same choice of menu items. For some schools this means that sandwiches will feature for the first time.
The Winter 2009/10 menus run in four week cycles and are effective from 26th October 2009 until 26th March 2010.
