Primary and Special School Meals

Attractive menu and information leaflets are provided to all Aberdeenshire school pupils and parents. The menus are the culmination of work that involves ongoing recipe and menu planning.
The menus and current approach to school meal provision were introduced to all Primary and Special Schools in August 2005. Menus are planned centrally and nutritionally analysed on a weekly basis taking account of key nutrients that include calcium, iron and vitamins.
Aberdeenshire school menus are devised to meet Scottish Government nutritional requirements and acheive lower fat, lower saturated fat, lower sugar and lower salt content.
A daily School Meal menu offers:
- 2 hot main course choices.
- ‘The Sandwich Tray’ providing a selection of items making it an excellent alternative to a home Pack lunch.

- A Baked Potato with a filling is available daily as a main course meal.
- Soup is available at least once a week.
- Pudding choices include fresh fruit, yoghurt or Cheese & Biscuits.
- A selection of breads are included with a school lunch meal.
- Fresh drinking water is freely available with lunch
- Milk and Juice is also available and my be purchased separately.
Autumn & Winter 2011/12 Menus & Information Leaflet
The menus shown in the leaflet below are standardised menus provided to all Aberdeenshire Primary and Special schools. This series of Autumn & Winter 2011/12 menus run in four week cycles and are effective from 24th October 2011up to the 30th of March 2012.

Current price and methods of payment
School meals are paid for by purchasing meal tickets in singles at £1.85 each or in books of ten costing £18.50 per book. Payment may be made in cash or by cheque made out to Aberdeenshire Council.
