Aberdeenshire Unemployment at 1.4% and Rising
Over the first quarter of 2009, Aberdeenshire’s unemployment rate (claimant count) rose by 35.4%. This represents an increase of 532 claimants from 1,501 in December 2008 to 2,033 in March 2009.
The unemployment rate remains very low at 1.4%, the lowest of all Scottish Local Authorities.
The rate for Scotland also rose over the period to 3.9%, now in line with the UK (4%).
