Buyer Briefing & Informal Meet the Buyer

Thursday 8th April 2010
The Individual Restaurant Company

Scotland Food & Drink is delighted to offer an exciting new opportunity to meet the senior team from The Individual Restaurant Company plc at a Buyer Briefing and Informal Meet the Buyer event on Thursday 8th April 2010 at The Restaurant Bar & Grill Glasgow, starting at 10am.

One of the UK’s leading restaurant groups, at the forefront of premier casual dining, it boasts a range of 34 establishments across the country, including Zinc Bar & Grill, Piccolino and The Restaurant Bar & Grill: www.individualrestaurantcompanyplc.co.uk.

The group’s turnover is currently £55m per year, procuring circa £19m in food and beverage goods. It has significant expansion plans over the next 3 years, raising the estate to 50 sites, including Aberdeen and potentially Edinburgh.

The Individual Restaurant Company prides itself on excellent quality food & drink, sourcing locally wherever possible, and is keen to enhance its offering by featuring superb Scottish produce across its portfolio.

The company is looking for exceptional, indigenous food and drink products that are synonymous with Scotland such as pure Aberdeen Angus beef, Highland heather honey, soft fruits, artisan cheese and smoked fish (for example Finnan Haddie). The door is wide open, however, and the team is hoping to discover some delicious and interesting produce.

Note that as the chefs make their own goods such as chutney, jams, bread and desserts and such like they are not looking for processed products.

The event will kick off in the morning with a Buyer Briefing, providing a unique insight into the business and an overview of how the supply chain works. This will be followed by a two-course lunch, giving you the chance to experience first-hand the group’s commitment to quality produce, as well as offering a relaxed environment for networking.

After lunch, a series of 15-minute, 1:1 informal Meet the Buyer meetings will be held with pre-selected companies. This will be your chance to enthuse the team about your products. Selected companies will be required to bring along product samples.

If you would like to be considered for a 1: 1 session, please e-mail fiona.richmond@scotlandfoodanddrink.org at the time of booking explaining, in no more than 100 words, what you can offer The Individual Restaurant Company and why they should meet you.

The event costs £50 for members and £75 for non-members, including lunch and refreshments throughout the day.

For further information and to book your place, please contact Fiona Richmond on e-mail: Fiona.richmond@scotlandfoodanddrink.org; tel: 0131 524 8644 by no later than 25th March. Places are limited so booking is highly recommended.

A full agenda and directions to the venue will be issued in advance of the event.
