Mitchells - Best Independent Retailer in Scotland

Mitchells were successful last week at the Scottish Grocers Awards 2010 in being voted by the judges and their peers within the industry as being the Best Independent Retailer in Scotland.

In the words of the judges :-
"For a single, family owned store to go head to head against other businesses with multiple shops within the independent sector is a remarkable achievement. The emphasis on so much local produce and working closely with a great many smaller suppliers was a pleasure to see. Their relationship with their suppliers and their customers is a true reflection in the passion of their staff. Mitchells have challenged the multiples head on offering something really special.

Keith Whyte Partner in Mitchells, welcomes the footfall that the big national multiples bring to Inverurie and by offering a more personal ,friendly service hopes to attract customers to the delights of shopping within a family independent store. Being know as "The Dairy" for more than 80 years, Mitchells is a much loved feature of Inverurie - you can't miss them, just look out for their cow out front."

Mitchells were also awarded the Independent Community Champion award, the first winners of this new award sponsored by Cadburys. Again in the words of the judges :-
"Cadburys and the judging panel were greatly impressed by the vast array of offerings for Mitchells customers and for all the work they do in contributing to various community projects and sponsorship activities. Mitchells firmly believe in the philosophy of - what you put in you get back out again - and are worthy winners of this inaugural award. What a fantastic team effort from everybody involved with Mitchells."
