Young Scottish Seafood Chef of the Year Prepares Meal for Alex Salmond
The Milton Restaurant was a proud winner earlier this year when trainee chef Craig McKenzie won the title of Young Scottish Seafood Chef of the Year.
As part of his prize, Craig will be showing off his award winning skills by cooking a meal for First Minister Alex Salmond and guests in Edinburgh this week.
Diners were pleasantly surprised when Mr Salmond and his wife arrived at the Milton yesterday to sample some of Craig’s creations ahead of the dinner later this week. Our famous Milton fishcake is now ‘strongly recommended’ by Mr Salmond.
The menu for the dinner was created by Chef Kevin McGillivray who will be cooking alongside Craig at the event. Guests will have a choice of butternut squash cream soup or crispy hake galettes followed by braised shoulder of Dornoch lamb.
Craig said ‘I’m looking forward to it, there are no nerves yet. It will hopefully open doors for me in the future’.
