Aberdeenshire Council is keen to promote Travel Plans, and as the largest employer in the Council area, it has an important role to play
in leading by example.
The Council's Travel Plan promotes greater travel awareness in the community and workforce, highlighting health and financial benefits to those who choose to make a change.
School Travel Planning
A SchoolTravel Plan is an opportunity to identify and promote practical school run options to meet the varied needs of the school community. Pupil safety is crucial and keeping the school gate free of traffic is key to this.
'Go for it' is a fun initative promoting both health improvement and sustainable travel within Aberdeenshire schools.
Travel Planning for Business
Business travel planning is an effective management tool which can:
- generate cost savings
- solve existing transport problems and prevent future ones
- increase staff fitness and satisfaction reducing absenteeism
Development Management
Transport cannot be an afterthought in the development process. (Scottish Executive SPP 17). It is recommended that the guidance contained in this section be referred to by all those with a role in the development planning process.
