Fraserburgh Recycling Point temporarily removed

The Recycling Point at the Co-op, Albert Street, Fraserburgh has been removed temporarily. Due to the building of the new store, the Co-op have lost most of their car parking spaces therefore cannot accommodate the Recycling Point at this time. The Recycling Point will be returned to this site once the building work has completed (approximately December 2012). Please use alternative Recycling Points in Fraserburgh or visit the Household Waste Recycling Centre at Anderson Place.

 

Recycling On The Go

New recycling containers are to be installed in five communities across Aberdeenshire to make it easier for people to recycle on the go.

Residents living in Aboyne, Banff, Ellon, Inverurie and Stonehaven will all benefit from the scheme, which will see bins for cans and plastic bottles installed in various locations in the towns to make recycling more accessible during normal daily activities. Full story...

 

Recycling Kerbside Collections

Please note that due to an increase in properties in specific areas it has been necessary to make a day change to Kerbside Collection Services in the following Areas. Letters have been issued to affected properties:-

  • Blackburn now Friday Week 2 with next collection being Friday 20th April
  • Insch now Thursday Week 2 with next collection being Thursday 19th April
  • Kingseat now Monday Week 2 with next collection being Monday 16th April
  • Pitmedden now Friday Week 2 with next collection being Friday 20th April

Small areas within Westhill and Ellon have a day change. If in doubt about your next collection please contact Wasteline on 0845 600 3 900 who will be happy to advise.

 

Temporary Garden Waste facilities

The seasonal extra garden waste recycling points provided by Aberdeenshire Council at seven locations are to reopen soon. The first day of operation will be Saturday 21st April at each site.

Residents are also able to recycle their garden waste free of charge throughout the rest of the year at our Household Waste and Recycling Centres. Alternatively, they might like to find out more about home composting and other ways to reduce garden waste on our Composting and Garden Waste pages.

 

Relocation of Ballater household waste disposal facilities

The household waste disposal facility currently available in the Church Square car park will be moved for the summer season to the council roads depot with effect from Saturday 14 April.

The opening times will remain from 9.00am till 3.00pm with a garden waste collection facility available from Saturday 21 April between 8.00am and 11.00am

New Recycling Point

A new Recycling Point has been installed at the Deeside Holiday Park, Maryculter for Public use. The Recycling Point is located through the main entrance to the left within a fenced compound.

Facilities are available for paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, cans and foil, green glass, clear glass & brown glass.

 

Small Electrical Appliance Recycling Banks trial

Two new electrical appliance recycling banks will be installed in Port Elphinstone and Insch by Aberdeenshire Council on Wednesday (February 1) as part of a trial to allow people to recycle small items such as irons, radios, hairdryers and clocks more easily. Full story...

 

New standard opening hours at HWRCs

From 12th December, standard opening hours at our eleven larger full time Household Waste Recycling Centres are as follows:

  • Monday to Sunday 9.00am to 5.00pm
  • Tuesday 5.00pm to 8.00pm (April to September only)

Aluminium foil and tray collection

Aberdeenshire Council is now able to accept aluminium foil and food trays for collection, along with food and drink cans. Please clean the trays, removing any food residue that might cause contamination, then place them in your black recycling box or take to your nearest Recycling Point or Centre and place in the food and drink can container
