Aberdeenshire Kerbside Recycling Survey 2006

This report shows detailed findings of a survey into householder behaviour and recognition of campaign materials following the rollout of kerbside recycling collections and fortnightly refuse collections in Aberdeenshire. The rollout took place between winter 2004 and summer 2006. The survey took place at the end of 2006.

Public Attitudes to Waste Reduce & Reuse: Survey Report

This report contains the findings of a survey carried out as a follow-up to a Waste Aware Grampian Campaign started in May 2005. The aim of the campaign was to increase public awareness, knowledge and practice of methods to minimise waste at the reduce and reuse stages of the waste hierarchy. The campaigning strategy and the materials used were developed by the Scottish Waste Awareness Group (SWAG) in partnership with the three councils in the Grampian Waste Strategy Area.

Recycling Centres and Points Survey Report

This report details the findings of a doorstep survey undertaken in September 2004 to 1,206 households across the Grampian area. The survey was undertaken to appraise the effectiveness of the different campaigning methods employed to allow the development of a best practice campaigning model for Grampian, as well as to measure the behavioural change by comparison to a previous survey conducted in 2002.

Public Attitudes to Waste: Final Report

This survey was commissioned by our Waste Section to assess householders' attitudes towards issues such as waste reduction, reuse and recycling.

Integrated Sustainable Waste Management Strategy for Aberdeenshire

We published the Integrated Sustainable Waste Management Strategy for Aberdeenshire in 2001, after a public consultation exercise.

Waste prevention and encouraging households and businesses to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle waste are key aims of the strategy, as is the Council’s commitment to improve local infrastructure for recycling and provide support and guidance to the
public.

An Implementation Plan was produced in 2002 and long-term funding was then secured from the Scottish Executive’s Strategic Waste Fund. The Implementation plan contains a number of projects including the provision of advice and guidance on Composting, the introduction of a new Refuse and Recycling collection service and enhancements to the network of Recycling.
