Disposal of Asbestos - Domestic Properties

We operate four disposal sites which are licensed to accept cement bonded asbestos direct from members of the public.

Disposing of asbestos at our sites

We can only accept asbestos for disposal from domestic properties in Aberdeenshire. Tradesmen wishing to dispose of asbestos should contact a specialist waste disposal company. These are listed in Yellow Pages under "Asbestos Removal".

The householder must present the asbestos in person. We will ask you to provide proof of residency. For example, a recent utility bill or driving licence.

We do not charge for asbestos disposal. However, we can only accept a maximum of ten sheets per household.

Preparing asbestos for disposal

Asbestos taken to our sites for disposal must be double bagged or wrapped in strong plastic (preferably clear) and sealed. Plastic is available from builders merchants and DIY stores.

It is not necessary to obtain a consignment note from your local SEPA (Scottish Environmental Protection Agency) Office for asbestos from domestic properties.
