What happens to Food and Drink Cans and Aerosols?

You can recycle steel and aluminium cans together - there is no need to separate them as a machine in our can baling room does this magnetically.  This works on the simple principle that steel cans are attracted to a magnet while aluminium ones are not.

The cans are then squashed into bales.  Aluminium cans go to Novelis in Warrington to be made back into new cans.  Steel cans are sent to Corus to be made into a variety of items, such as engine parts as well as new cans.
