Waste Aware Guide

The most up to date information on waste services will always be on this website. However, if you prefer printed information for quick reference, you can now download PDF versions of all of the Waste Aware Guide inserts. Large print versions are also available.
You can also now check your recycling and refuse collection day and week on this website. You need to enter your address at the top of the map, then select 'Recycling & Refuse' from the buttons below the map. Your recycling and refuse information will appear in the text box below the map.
Please print double-sided if possible
- The page order of the standard PDFs is laid out so that you can print them double-sided on A4 paper and use the grey guidelines to cut the pages to the finished one-third A4 size for your Waste Aware Guide binder. Printing double-sided saves waste and saves you money.
- If your printer does not allow double-sided printing, you can still print the PDFs single-sided, but will need to pay more attention to the page numbers before you assemble the cut pages in your Waste Aware Guide binder.
- If you don't have a Waste Aware Guide binder, you can either contact us for one or you might find it more convenient to just print the large print versions instead. These are set up as one page per A4 sheet, so do not require any cutting and you can store them in any A4 binder or folder to suit yourself.
How do I find my collection day and week ?
- To find out which collection day and week you are on for refuse or recycling, or to check other nearby recycling facilities, simply go to the Local Information Interactive Map page on this website. After entering your address in the space above the map, just click on the Recycling & Refuse button in the menu below the map.
- If you have any problems using the interactive map, just contact us instead and please have your address and post code ready. We will tell you which week and day your collections take place.
- Once you know your collection day and week, it is simply a case of following the colour-coded weeks on the collection calendars (Section 3 for Recycling, Section 7 for Refuse).
Which version of the guide inserts to print
- If you receive a fortnightly kerbside collection of recycling, using a black plastic recycling box and white paper recycling sack or blue box, you need the 'URBAN' version of section 3.
- If you receive a four-weekly recycling collection of paper and white or grey card via a blue-lidded wheeled bin, you need the 'RURAL' version of section 3.
- Households in the weekly recycling trial area all have a different section 3. During the trial period, this is only available by contacting us if you did not receive it or have lost it.
- All other sections of the guide are now the same for all households.
Standard double-sided inserts for the Waste Aware Guide binder
Although these can be printed single-sided, the layout is optimised for double-sided printing and cutting to fit the Waste Aware Guide binder. If you don't have a guide binder or would just prefer to start filing your information in a normal A4 binder or folder of your own choice, or want to just keep the pages as PDFs on your computer, you will probably find it much more convenient to use the large print inserts.

Large print or A4 binder versions of the Waste Aware Guide inserts
The PDFs listed below will print off as one guide page to one sheet of A4 for clarity. They are not designed to fit the Waste Aware Guide binder. You may prefer to use the large print versions if you do not have a Waste Aware Guide binder. This will save you the trouble of cutting and sorting pages as you can print straight to A4 and use any A4 binder or folder to suit your own requirements, or just leave the PDFs on your computer.
