Burial ground charges
Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak the advance sale of lairs (where not associated with an interment) at Aberdeenshire cemeteries has been temporarily suspended. This suspension includes associated administrative processes such as lair transfers and the selling of unwanted lairs to the council. The processing and approval process for headstones has been temporarily suspended.
Our burial ground fees don't include undertaker related services or crematorium fees. The fees are higher for non residents as they don't pay Council Tax to Aberdeenshire Council.
These fees only cover the purchase of the lair (grave), the preparation of the lair for the burial, the backfilling of the lair and laying out of flowers once the burial is over.
You can purchase a lair and book and interment without using an undertaker. If you are using one, they can purchase the lair and the interment on your behalf and they will include these fees in their invoice.

Purchase of right of burial
This entitles the lair holder the right of burial in the lair for themselves and their heirs. The lair holder can also transfer the right of burial. The lair will still belong to the council but the lair holder has the right to be buried in it.
Where a lair is being purchased for the interment of a person under the age of 18, no purchase fee will be applied.
