Animals
You can keep a pet but you may need our written permission first. If you wish to keep more than one pet or a non-domestic pet you must get our permission first. Please contact Housing to arrange this.
You are also responsible for any animals that your visitors may bring to your home.
Dogs
Owning a dog is a great responsibility. Owners must make sure:
- their dog does not disturb other residents
- they clean up after their dog
- their dog is not a danger to others, particularly children
You may not keep dogs that are banned by the Dangerous Dogs Act.
Advice on responsible dog ownership is available from the Animal Health and Welfare team.
Cats
Cats by nature roam and there are no specific laws to prevent this. Owners should try to make sure their cat does not cause any nuisance to neighbours.
