Weather alerts for heavy overnight rain across much of Aberdeenshire
We are all getting prepared for the heavy rainfall being forecast overnight which is expected to cause significant flooding and disruption to travel.

Aberdeenshire Council has an obligation to maintain roads and undertake certain emergency responses in the event of flooding but this does not extend to private property.
With flooding now forecast, residents and businesses should take steps to protect their own property from flooding.

Our Housing Team is also on standby to assist with affected households on 03456 081203.
Both ourselves, local resilience groups and volunteers are on standby to assist should flooding occur.
The Met Office is advising that homes and businesses across the region may be in danger of being flooded and there could be damage to some buildings.
Spray and flooding are likely to create hazardous driving conditions and rainfall could force the closure of some routes, there is a strong possibility that some communities may be cut off by flooded roads.
The A937-B974 at Marykirk remains closed today owing to flooding as is the B977 at Kintore.
Delays and some cancellations to train and bus services are likely and there may be power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses.

Live Life Aberdeenshire are in the process adapting programming where customers may not wish to travel to access pre-paid services. Where sessions do go ahead, we will exceptionally refund pre booked customers who highlight they felt unable to travel due to weather concerns.
The specifics of what happens in each facility will depend on local conditions and circumstances – but it is anticipated that whilst sites will remain open, a number of sites may close early and/or open late. It is also probable that a range of exercise classes, early morning/late evening lets and some swimming lessons may also require to be cancelled. Individuals and groups will be contacted directly in the event of cancellation.
