Aberdeenshire Doors Open Days 2023
Doors Open Days, Scotland’s largest free festival celebrating the built environment, takes place next month.
There will be two days of free unique viewing opportunities to sites of historic, cultural, architectural and community interest over the weekend of September 16-17.
Aberdeenshire Council will have 50 properties taking part, some for the first time.
You can view the brochure and the map by clicking here.
There will also be tours, exhibitions, and refreshments at many of the venues, hosted by Doors Open Days volunteers.
This year’s Aberdeenshire event has been organised by Aberdeenshire Council’s Historic Environment Team.
Aberdeenshire’s Doors Open Days Coordinator Clare Tierney said: “We can’t wait to welcome visitors to some amazing buildings across Aberdeenshire.
“We have a wealth of historically interesting and important buildings, all with fascinating stories, and I hope to see people from far and wide find out more about Aberdeenshire’s built environment.
“The event is intended to increase public appreciation and enjoyment of Scotland’s built heritage and promote inclusion in Scotland’s civic spaces and activities.”
Doors Open Days is coordinated nationally by the Scottish Civic Trust and is part of European Heritage Days, a joint initiative of the Council of Europe and the European Union alongside Scottish Archaeology Month.
Both events are supported by Historic Environment Scotland.
