Work and Play Expo
Aberdeenshire’s Local Employability Partnership – Employment CONNECT is holding a free event for parents and children.
It’s being held at the P&J Live on Tuesday, February 13 from 10.30am – 3pm.
The aim of the event is to engage with as many parents from across Aberdeenshire as possible who are unemployed, underemployed, looking to change career, or to move into education or training.
There will be workshops running throughout the day focusing on:
- Parental Offer – (covers, employment, training, education, financial support and more)
- Financial stability
- Considering or starting self-employment
- Further or Higher Education offer
- Lived Experience – parents sharing their experiences of the support they received to return to work or increase their earnings.
Alongside the workshops there will be a wide range of partner organisations who will be on hand to provide information on the services they provide and how they can support parents with, employment, training, education, budgeting, wellbeing, and health.
There will be a range of free activities for children to get involved with including:
- Love Rara – face painting, glitter tattoos & themed characters
- Tech Fest – Tech Dome, Bizarre Bones, K’Nex & Codes and Cyphers
- Bouncing House Inflatables – bouncy castles, obstacle course and inflatable board games
- Aberdeen Football Club – STEM Robots, Botcha and Beat the Goalie
- Critter Keeper
- Divine Magic
- Garioch Rugby Club – Fun sessions, games and activities for P1-P7 age groups
- Fancy Sensy Dancy – Sensory activities
- Aberdeen Foyer – Virtual Reality Headsets and Silent Disco
- Station House Media Unit – podcasting, audio and filming
- Charlie House – Sensory room
Free transport is being provided to the and from the venue from the following locations across Aberdeenshire: Banff, Macduff, Fraserburgh, Mintlaw, Peterhead, Cruden Bay, Ellon, Newburgh, Balmedie, Inverurie, Kemnay, Westhill, Laurencekirk, Stonehaven, Portlethen, Ballater, Aboyne, Banchory, Alford, Huntly and Turriff.
Catering is also provided free of charge.
