Candidates revealed for Aberdeenshire by-elections
The candidates for three by-elections taking place in Aberdeenshire next month have been unveiled.
Voting will take place at 34 polling stations within the contested wards between 7am and 10pm on Thursday, November 7.
These will be at the same locations as used during this year’s UK Parliamentary General Election. The digital count will take place the following day at Inverurie Town Hall.
Poll cards/letters have been dispatched to Royal Mail today (Tues, Oct 8), with postal votes being dispatched to Royal Mail on Friday, October 25.
In Ward 3 – Fraserburgh and District – five candidates are contesting the by-election as follows: Sandy Leslie (Scottish Liberal Democrats), Mike McDonald (Scottish National Party), Conrad Ritchie (Reform UK), Dawn Smith (Scottish Family Party), Iain Sutherland (Scottish Conservatives).
In Ward 4 – Central Buchan – six candidates are contesting the by election as follows: Ian Bailey (Scottish Liberal Democrats), Peter Chapman (Scottish Conservatives), Andrew Curwen (Reform UK), Phil Reynolds (Scottish Family Party), Dean Ward (Ind), Sarah Wilken (Scottish National Party).
In Ward 19 – Mearns – five candidates are contesting the by-election as follows: Isobel Knights (Scottish Liberal Democrats), Claudia Leith (Reform UK), William Linegar (Scottish Greens), Hannah Scott (Scottish National Party), Tracey Smith (Scottish Conservatives).
The three by-elections were triggered by the standing down of councillors Seamus Logan (Fraserburgh and District), David Mair (Central Buchan) and Kevin Stelfox (Mearns).
