Enterprising Aberdeenshire project extended after a hugely successful first year
A successful community-driven project providing essential support for north-east businesses is to continue for another year.
Enterprising Aberdeenshire – which has been designed, developed and delivered by Aberdeenshire Council – has received additional funding from the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund.
The project has been busy visiting communities across Aberdeenshire, listening to and acting upon local business needs, creating tailored business-related events, bringing entrepreneurs together and supporting businesses to start-up and grow.
Taking a place-based approach has been critical in understanding the needs of Aberdeenshire communities and providing support based on need and requirement throughout the provision of enterprise support.
Councillor Alan Turner, chair of the council’s infrastructure Services Committee, said: “I am delighted to see the extension of this community-driven economic project which is out and about in all corners of Aberdeenshire offering advice and support based on local business demand. The project links directly into our Economic Development service plan along with the priorities of the council and I very much look forward to seeing the project continuing to develop and support our business community in the year ahead.”
ISC vice-chair Cllr Isobel Davidson added: “Demand for the Enterprising Aberdeenshire project has been very strong and it’s been great to see this project itself evolving through the local business requirements. The support the small but dedicated team has been given from businesses has also been very welcome, through in-kind assistance or local venues being made available for events. This has enabled the project to support our communities, to bring people together and to make a real impact.”
Paul Macari, head of Planning & Economy at Aberdeenshire Council, said: “It’s tremendous to see how the Enterprising Aberdeenshire project has established itself within such a short period of time and has surpassed many of its outcomes, showing the much-needed demand in our communities. Communities have responded well, attending events, engaging with the project and fostering collaboration along with partnership working within many teams and services within the council along with external stakeholders.”
